“an anthology of thought provoking poetry that redefines poetry in the 21st century”
Bhekumusa Moyo is a passionate performing poet who has won contests and Poetry slams in Zimbabwe but all across the southern Africa. He has shared the stage with the region’s known voices in local, regional and International Festivals. He has shared his written works in online poetry platforms like Poetry Bulawayo and has contributed in various published Anthologies locally and internationally.
His lyrics contain so much venom on the societal ills that occur in communities and the nation in general. They aim to ensure that issues of discrimination, oppression and injustices are exposed and dealt with. It is such criticism that has seen Bhekumusa Moyo being named “The Protest Poet”. His poetry has been used by civic society organizations for their lobbying and advocacy strategies. Some of the organizations that have used his works include Bulawayo Progressive Residents Association, Bulawayo Agenda and National Youth development Trust. His poetry has been further published in Sunday News Poetry Corner. The protest poet was the country ambassador to the Power in the Voice International Festival in 2008 and the SADC Poetry Festival in 2010.
In his poetry journey from high school he was the Champion of the British Council sponsored Power in the Voice in 2006 during the Intwasa Festival. He went on to perform at the Harmony for Humanity Concert in the same year with Albert Nyathi, Chirikure Chirikure, Busi Ncube. He displayed his writing and performance skills when he was the youngest published poet in a collection of professionals called “It’s Time” by Writers Get Together. His writing skills have been further noted in the thought provoking plays that he wrote, which include but are not limited to “Beer which is a Political Satire which he scripted in 2007 for Ekhaya Arts. His latest Play that has gained national and regional recognition is entitled, “1983-The years before and after”. This play traces the incidents that have been referred to as untamed and unexplored. The much underlining aspect of this play is the fact that it attempts to move the nation towards sustainable peace. It is his ability to interrogate such issues in a thought provoking manner that has got people talking about such past experiences. This poet participated in the Protest Arts International Festival 2010 & 2011, African Artist Unite Anti-Xenophobia Concert 2010-Khayelitsha-Cape Town, Jahunda Community Arts Festival 2010, Bulawayo Arts for Peace Festival 2011, and Harare International Festival of the Arts 2011.

This book is full of thought provoking poetry. Some of the poems are so sad, if only I could change the world. I give the author credit for speaking out.Product details
